Yoga Alliance posted this request earlier in the year, ” we asked the yoga community to nominate Yoga Alliance members who exemplified service and volunteerism. We received over 100 nominations of yogis from all over the world for our Open Heart, Giving Back, Warrior and Youth Development awards.”

And without further hesitation, the award for ‘Giving Back’ goes to visionary Marianne Hritz who established Studio Oxygen as a pure labor of love.  If you ask this humble blonde beauty who is responsible for this award, she graciously echoes ‘God, my family, and my beautiful staff!

Marianne will be traveling to Arlington, VA on September 23, 2016 to receive this great honor.  In celebration of her award, lets get to know the heart behind the vision of ‘Giving Back.’

How has giving back to your community changed your life as a studio owner?

It has enriched my life personally & professionally. The award is soulful – it feels so good!

Where were you when you received news from Yoga Alliance that you had received the “Giving Back” award? (And we’re all dying to know….did you do a happy dance?)

I was home – nonchalantly checking my emails & was in SHOCK! Thought my kids were going to have to resuscitate me! Yes happy dance and my feet weren’t even touching the ground!

If members of the Studio Oxygen community wish to travel to Arlington in September, where can they find additional information about making travel arrangements.

You can contact Yoga Alliance directly for tickets.  Crystal City Marriott, 1999 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA (ceremony September 23, 2016 @6 pm)

In addition to receiving the “Giving Back” award, the “Community Choice Award” will be announced at the September ceremony. How can the Studio Oxygen community mark themselves on the map at this event?

Worldwide Recognition (WOW!)

How has the practice of yoga ‘given back’ to you personally?

It has Changed & Deepened my relationship with myself, my God & everyone around me!

What is one piece of wisdom you would like to impart to your community?

Be a part of …not a part from! Community connects you to every aspect of your life. Very rewarding!

You mention that you made a commitment to God to give back to your community over 10 years ago. As you think about the next 10 years, what other ways do you envision the studio giving back?

My vision is to keep going/growing! Our expansion, staff/extended family will make a larger impact on our community! We will continue to contribute to local organizations, worldwide wide charities & families in need.

What does this accomplishment mean to you?

Everything. Yet so humbling. I didn’t receive this award alone. It was a community contribution.

What are you most excited about in your life right now?

Other than family, my beautiful studios/staff. I just love LIFE!
