Happy September beautiful Yogi’s. Studio Oxygen is so blessed to be getting ready to celebrate it’s 10 year anniversary this November. This is such an exciting time for our community! In preparation for this celebration, I reached out to Sabrina Mihaly, who is one of the beautiful faces that often greets the Studio Oxygen Community. Her quick wit, warm smile, problem solving abilities, and Yogini ways are sure to welcome any heart into this extraordinary community! Her list of titles goes on and on! Sabrina’s insights are the perfect way to kick off this upcoming celebration. Grab your cup of tea or coffee and get ready to meet one of the beauties at Studio Oxygen. This Yogini has much to share about how this practice has evolved into something much more than the physical asana practice. She brings a big smile and always a, “What’s up buttercup?” when she greets you!
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Oh jeez, one of my least favorite things to do!
Well, my name is Sabrina, I am the manager of both studios and also the daughter of Marianne (Yoga is in my blood). I work the desk almost every day at both locations and also teach twice a week, Mondays at 5:30pm for Yoga Basics in Poland and Friday’s at 5:30pm for Hot Happy Hour in Canfield.
I am so grateful that I love what I do. I love meeting new people and getting to know them, everyone here becomes family. Someone once told me, Studio Oxygen is like a hub! You know we put our hearts into what we do and you can feel the energy and love put into everything we do!
2. When does the studio kick off this celebration, and what can the community expect to experience at the celebration?
Our Anniversary Celebration will start Friday November 11th with an Open House from 4-8pm in Canfield. We will have some fun and new clothing lines in our boutique, we will have our staff here to meet and greet everyone who stops by, and of course, we will have amazing food from my very talented husband.
Saturday, November 12th in Canfield– we will have Steve Ross (all the way from California- this is HUGE to have him at Studio Oxygen). He will teach 9:30-11:30am Happy Yoga ($20 in advance, $25 at the door), 1:30-4pm Yin Yoga Nidra & Meditation ($40 in advance, $45 at the door)
Sunday, November 13th in Poland– Steve will teach 9:30-11:30am Happy Yoga ($20 in advance, $25 at the door), 1:30-4pm Yin Yoga & Chakra Meditation ($40 in advance, $45 at the door).
Early Bird Special $120 for the full weekend- now that’s a good deal!
3. What has been one of your favorite experiences with a student over the last ten years?
This is a toughie…every experience has been great, if not better then the last.
4. How has Yoga changed your life?
Wow, where do I even begin?
Yoga has dramatically changed my life forever! I am a more humble, more kind, more open, more at peace and more happy. Yoga isn’t just a practice, it’s a lifestyle.
5. What vision do you hold for the studio in the next 10 years?
This is easy…I hope to see many more locations. Our intention is to grow a community where we can all discover, establish and enjoy our yoga practice.
6. How do you make every moment count?
I ask myself this every day! Everyday is a gift, and there are many moments where I step back, breathe and just smile. Good or bad, it’s your attitude that makes the difference.
7. What’s your favorite song on your playlists right now?
“Hey No Pressure” by Ray LaMontagne
**He is one of my absolute favorite artists (especially for yoga)
8. What are three words you use to describe the studio to a new student?
CHALLENGING- CALMING- WELCOMING!
*Challenging– because this practice is different from your average workout. When people think “yoga”, they think just stretching. I like to think of yoga as a dance, it’s about finding what poses work for you and how to find peace in every movement, every pose.
*Calming– because you leave your mat feeling at ease, you start to feel this practice the moment you step off your mat.
*Welcoming– because of the community. Everyone is always so kind and they remember their first time to a new place. It’s scary- so our community wants them to feel like they are part of our wonderful yoga family.
9. How do you live your practice off of your mat?
Life is always challenging, but knowing I have my practice to rely on, it makes me more aware of how to handle any situation.
10. When can we find you on the schedule?
Monday’s at 5:30pm in Poland for Yoga Basics
Friday’s at 5:30pm in Canfield for Hot Happy Hour (Power Hour)
Occasionally, you can find me subbing during the week as well
11. How can the Studio Community support the anniversary celebration?
We would love to see you all there every day of our big weekend, but we know that’s not possible. Stop in during our open house or even attend one of the workshops offered with Steve Ross, trust us, you won’t regret it!
